Weekly Photo Challenge: Hands (still in St. Pete!)

In these shots, my sister is holding a gorgeous Palekh box. Like before, I had to be sneaky taking these pictures, and the rush caused some blurriness, and the gold in the scenes don’t show through. Anyhow, the box is made of over a dozen layers of paper mache, is lacquered many times over, hand-polished, then hand-painted by at least one artist. Scenes from folk tales are often painted, and each box takes well over a year to make. As expected, the prices are pretty steep; this box had a price tag of about $1,800 (USD)…and that’s with a trusted seller in a non-touristy area. Sorry to say, I had to pass!

Not sure if I’ll be able to post again while I’m here, but thanks to all of you who have checked out my blog while I’ve been gone. It means a lot to me!
